Joint Committee on Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth meet for Scrutiny of EU Legislative Proposals in matters relating to the protection of adults & the Autism Spectrum Disorder Bill 2017

The Joint Committee on Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth will meet today, Wednesday 3rd October for Scrutiny of EU Legislative Proposals: Schedule A: (23)280 on Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition and enforcement of measures and cooperation in matters relating to the protection of adults. The meeting will also engage in Pre-Committee stage detailed scrutiny of the Autism Spectrum Disorder Bill 2017.

The meeting will be conducted in 2 sections:

Session one – 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm (approx.)

Decision of EU COM (23)280 Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition and enforcement of measures and cooperation in matters relating to the protection of adults.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Kathleen Funchion TD said “The Committee looks forward to the opportunity presented with today’s meeting to scrutinise the Bill. Our Committee has continued to highlight the challenges facing Autistic people.

The Committee is aware of the need to see implementation across the range of actions including financial supports, inclusion and consultation when designing services which affect people with Autism and disabilities and we will look for first-hand experiences from the stakeholders attending tomorrow.”
