Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine to discuss challenges facing horse sport industry with Horse Sport Ireland

The Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine will meet at 5.30pm today in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House to discuss the challenges facing the horse sport industry with representatives of Horse Sport Ireland (HSI).

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Jackie Cahill said: “Horse Sport Ireland is the national governing body for equestrian sport and is recognised by Sport Ireland, the Olympic Federation of Ireland and the Federation Equestre Internationale, and operates high performance programmes to support athlete participation internationally.

“The Committee met with HSI representatives in June and looks forward to resuming our discussions on the challenges facing HSI and equestrian sport in Ireland ahead of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, as well as proposed changes to HSI’s governance structure.”

The Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
