Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action to examine recommendations of Report of Citizens’ Assembly on Biodiversity Loss with Youth Citizen Assembly

The meeting at 11am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will be split into two sessions:

• 11am – Examination of the recommendations in relation to the enforcement of environmental law and regulation with Mr Francis O'Donnell, Chief Executive Officer, Inland Fisheries Ireland (IF), and Dr Mícheál Ó Cinnéide;
• 12:30pm – Representatives from Youth Citizen Assembly.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “In our first session we will discuss enforcement of current and future laws and regulation relating to the environment with Dr Ó Cinnéide, an independent expert, and Mr O’Donnell from IFI. In our second session, we will hear the views of six young people whose futures will be most impacted by the decisions taken by this current generation to combat climate change and restore biodiversity before the damage done to the planet is irreversible.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
