Vol. 40 No. 21

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Ballindine Holding.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he is aware that portion of a farm containing about 56 acres on the Estate of Aileen Dillon, situated at Lisduff, Ballindine, Co. Mayo, was taken over from Mr. Christopher Ryan about 14 years ago for division among neighbouring congests; that the farm has since that time been let for grazing at a monthly rent to the congests referred to; that repeated applications have been made to have it divided and allotted, and that the Land Commission have more than once promised that this would be done; whether the Minister will state the reason for the delay in proceeding with the allotment, and if the land will now be divided so as to enable the allottees to take up possession during the coming spring.

A portion of the lands of Lisduff, comprising 56 acres on the Churcher Estate, was retained by the Congested Districts Board for distribution as enlargements to the holdings of the tenants on the Estate of Aileen Dillon. These holdings are intermixed and must be re-arranged in connection with the distribution of the lands on the Churcher Estate. The re-arrangement will be made as soon as possible.
