Vol. 41 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coastal Patrol Boats.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if, in view of the fact that coastal patrol boats are to be provided in connection with the protection of the fisheries off our coasts, he would consider the claims of Kinsale, as a most favourable base for the location of at least one of these boats, and further, if owing to Kinsale's proximity to the best deep sea fishing grounds and owing to its convenience as a landing port and distributing centre for fish caught he would consider the advisability of providing a trawler for Kinsale similar to those now working from Waterford.

The suggestion in the first part of the question will be borne in mind in the consideration of the question of the fisheries protection. The suggestion in the second part of the question relates to a matter primarily within the province of the Sea Fisheries Association of Saorstát Eireann, Limited, and not of the Department.
