Vol. 69 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Clare Tenant.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether requests have been made to the Irish Land Commission to allow Cornelius O'Donohue, Toonagh Fountain Cross, Ennis, County Clare, a tenant on the McGrath property to avail of the purchase provisions afforded under recent land purchase legislation, and if he will state why facilities in this respect are withheld from him.

An application under the provisions of Section 14, Land Act, 1931, has been lodged by Cornelius O'Donohue in respect of portion of the townland of Ballyteernan containing approximately 19 acres and held by him at a rent of £12 stated to be payable under a grazing agreement. The inquiries necessary to enable the commissioners to decide whether the provisions of the Land Acts, 1923 to 1936 can be applied in the matter are in progress but have not yet been completed.

Will the Minister endeavour to expedite these enquiries because this man is suffering considerable loss and paying an excessive rent which would be automatically reduced under the provisions of these Acts?
