Vol. 92 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare Medical Appointment.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state what is the cause of the delay in making a permanent appointment to the vacancy for a dispensary medical officer at Fontstown, County Kildare.

The vacancy for a medical officer for the Fontstown dispensary district occurred on the 9th November last. A slight delay arose pending the making of a general Order declaring the qualifications for the office of dispensary medical officer, the terms of which have now been settled in consultation with the Local Appointments Commissioners. In the meantime, however, a proposal to alter the boundaries of some dispensary districts, including Fontstown, is under consideration by the county council, and it may now prove necessary to defer the filling of the permanent post until a decision on the question of boundaries is reached.
