Vol. 102 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Postal Order Supplies.

Mr. Corish asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that there are frequent complaints, on the part of the public, of the difficulty that exists in procuring, at scale of pay post offices in County Wexford, postal orders of the denomination required; that in one recent case neither 5/- nor 10/- postal orders were stocked; that in such cases the amounts required are made up in smaller amounts, thus adding to the cost of poundage payable; and whether he will state to what extent his Department ensures that scale of pay offices maintain a stock of those postal orders which are in frequent demand.

I am not aware of any such complaints. None has been received by the head postmasters concerned or at headquarters. If the Deputy will supply me with detailed particulars I will be glad to have inquiries made.
