Vol. 107 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Additions to Hard Currency.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state if the airborne passenger traffic to Shannon Airport has resulted in any addition to the dollar or other hard currency held in Éire; and if so, if he will estimate the value of such addition.

The airborne passenger traffic to Shannon Airport has added to the State's earnings of dollars, but it is not possible to furnish an estimate of the net amount of this income as there are substantial contra items of dollar expenditure on the provision of goods and services to the operating companies and in respect of expenditure of Irish travellers. Other currencies involved apart from dollars are negligible.

Could the Minister give an approximate amount?

I could not.
