Vol. 110 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gaskell Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the reasons for the delay in carrying out the drainage work on the Gaskell estate, Garryvoe, where over 350 acres of this land have seriously deteriorated owing to flooding and defective sluices.

The matters of flooding and erosion of lands in the townlands of Garryvoe Lower, Ardnahinch and Ballylongane, in the Ballycotton Bay area are at present under investigation by the Land Commission. Until their inquiries are completed, the Land Commission are not in a position to state what action, if any, they will take.

Is the Minister aware that the very same position has existed for the last two years? They are still inquiring.

That seems to have been a habit into which they got over the last 15 years.

Or 20 years.

But that position will not prevail much longer.
