Vol. 115 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment of Married Women Teachers.

asked the Minister for Education if it is proposed to abolish the present ban on the employment of young women teachers who marry; and, if so, when he proposes to give effect to such decision.

Women who qualified for recognition as national teachers after the 1st October, 1934, are required under Regulation 72 of the Code for National Schools to retire on marriage. I consider that it is unlikely that this regulation shall be either withdrawn or modified.
