Vol. 131 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wexford Telephone Facilities.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will indicate when an applicant at Lower Main Street, Gorey, will have the telephone installed in his business premises as it is now 18 months since he applied for installation.

Mr. Boland

The application in question will be dealt with in normal course when telephones are being provided for other waiting applicants in the Gorey exchange area, probably later this year.

The applicant in this particular case happens to be an undertaker. Does the Minister not consider that an undertaker should be given priority? The procedure in country districts is that the people go in to the undertaker and ask him to communicate the facts to the daily Press and so forth? He is at a great disadvantage when he is without a telephone.

Mr. Boland

I will not make any pronouncement on that, but I will pass the information on to the Minister.
