Vol. 149 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Meath Holdings.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will ascertain from the Land Commission how many Meath applicants for exchange of holdings will be transferred to their new allotments this year and the names and addresses of such people.

The work of selecting migrants continues throughout the year and in the implementation of schemes it invariably happens that some approved migrants decline to accept the new holdings offered and have to be replaced at short notice. I regret that it is not practicable, therefore, to furnish the information sought.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the cause of the delay in allotting a change of holding to Mr. Patrick Mulvany, Loughan, Moynalty, County Meath, which was sanctioned some years ago and if, in view of the financial loss which Mr. Mulvany has suffered by the delay and in view of his excellent national record, he will have the matter attended to without delay.

Mr. Mulvany offered his holding to the Land Commission by way of exchange several years ago but his offer was not then accepted.

His further application for migration has been noted for consideration.

Is the Minister aware that this man's offer was accepted and that he was to move on a certain date to a house which was selected and allocated to him in the Ashbourne area? This man has lost three months' spring ploughing work because he did not work his own holding. He found, when about to move, a migrant in the new holding. This man has lost a considerable sum of money because his land has not been ploughed. What does the Land Commission propose to do to give that man justice? He is entitled to justice and he wants nothing more than that. I might mention that he is a most prominent Old I.R.A. man.
