Vol. 176 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballycotton (Cork) Housing Scheme.

5.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the reason for the delay in sanctioning the Ballycotton housing scheme.

Approval issued to the acceptance by Cork County Council of a tender for the erection of four serviced cottages at Ballycotton within six weeks after receipt of the proposal. There was no avoidable delay in dealing with the proposal which, I am glad to say, shows a considerable reduction in normal house construction costs. Special features of construction and finish were provided for, in the contract for these houses, on the lines adopted in the case of the recently completed houses at Ringaskiddy. A final inspection of the latter scheme was carried out before the Ballycotton tender was approved.
