Vol. 181 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wexford Forestry Programme.

35.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will give details of the forestry programme to be carried out in County Wexford during the year ending 31st March, 1961.

Provisional planting programmes for Co. Wexford Forests for the year 1960/61 total 505 acres, distributed as follows:—

Camolin, 9 acres; Coolgreaney, 207 acres; Forth, 225 acres; Gorey, 8 acres; New Ross, 56 acres. No planting programmes have been drawn up for Bree, Curracloe or Killanne Forests where reserves of land have been exhausted but if additional lands are acquired in these areas in the near future, the position will be reviewed.

In addition to planting there is, of course, a substantial programme of other forest and nursery work to be undertaken at the Co. Wexford Forests during the year.

Could the Minister state what land he has on hands that could be planted in Wexford?

I have not that information readily available for the Deputy. I can convey it to him.
