Vol. 203 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - British Import of Irish Cattle.

10.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he has had any intimation from the British Government with regard to the likelihood of a quota being imposed by Britain on the import of Irish cattle; and, if so, whether he has any information as to the size of such quota, the types of cattle included, and the date of coming into force of the quota.

Such an intimation has not been received. The precise methods by which future British policy on fatstock and cereals will be applied have yet to be worked out in consultation with British agricultural organisations and with supplying countries. Store animals imported from Ireland would not, of course, be affected.
