Vol. 212 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Public House Licences.

38.

andMr. Rooney asked the Minister for Justice if he will consider extending to three miles the one mile limit at present laid down for the transfer of public house licences except in circumstances where the population increase warrants a shorter distance.

Full consideration was given to the effects of the relevant provision in the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 1962, when it was being prepared and debated and no evidence has been adduced to show that the provision is not a reasonable one.

Is the Minister aware of the considerable dissatisfaction and concern which exists in regard to this?

I am not aware.

No representations have been made?
