Vol. 214 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Water Supplies.

38.

asked the Minister for Local Government if proposals for extensions to Ahascragh water supply, County Galway, have been received in his Department; and, if so, when it is expected that work on them will commence.

Proposals for extensions to the Ahascragh water supply scheme were approved in principle on 24th April, 1963. I understand from Galway County Council that the preparation of contract documents is at an advanced stage. I am not in a position to state when work on the scheme will commence.

39.

asked the Minister for Local Government what is the present position regarding the proposed water supply for Monivea, Athenry, County Galway.

I understand from Galway County Council that efforts to find an adequate supply of water for this scheme have so far proved unsuccessful. Further tests will shortly be carried out on the proposed source to determine whether a separate scheme is feasible or whether the area should be supplied by the proposed Lackagh/ Barnaderg regional water supply scheme.
