Vol. 215 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Transport Fleet.

55.

asked the Minister for Justice the total number of cars, including the cars of Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries and the Attorney General, in the Garda transport fleet; the number of such cars fitted with safety belts for drivers and passengers; and the extent to which the belts so fitted are used.

There are 242 cars in the Garda fleet. The front passenger seats of 22 of the cars are fitted with safety belts which are used regularly. A number of other cars are being fitted with safety belts.

I suggest that the Minister give one to Deputy Ryan.

Is there one strong enough to hold Deputy Burke in his seat?
