asked the Minister for Health the number and location of additional beds in maternity hospitals in Dublin proposed to be provided within the next year, and the cost of providing them.

Building schemes at maternity hospitals in Dublin in respect of which grants from the Hospitals Trust Fund are being made available will provide within the next year for 156 maternity beds, 58 gynaecological beds and 51 paediatric beds at the new Coombe Hospital and 48 maternity beds at the National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street. The estimated final cost of these schemes is £1.25 millions. Of the beds being provided, 122 maternity beds, 32 gynaecological beds and 31 paediatric beds are additional to existing complements.
