Vol. 225 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo School.

74.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding Ratheskin national school, County Mayo.

Mr. O'Malley

The existing Ratheskin national school is a two-teacher school and I am satisfied that it would be in the best educational interests of the children that they should be catered for in a larger school. It is accordingly proposed to have them conveyed by transport service to a new central school to be built at Kilfian. My Department is in communication with the Reverend Manager in regard to this proposal.

In the meantime, the Commissioners of Public Works have been asked to recommend what works, particularly with regard to sanitation and heating, might be carried out to render the Ratheskin school suitable until such time as the new central school will be ready for occupation.
