Vol. 239 No. 2

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment in Galway Factory.

76.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give details of the present employment figures for Messrs. Potez Limited, Galway; and whether there are any plans for increasing the number employed in this firm.

I understand that the number employed in Potez Industries of Ireland at present is 18. The affairs of the company are in the hands of a receiver and until the receivership has been finalised, I cannot comment on the likely outcome of any negotiations aimed at providing greater employment in the factory.

(Cavan): Would it be possible for the Minister to inform the House what estimate of employment was given by this company when it applied to his Department for the grant which it received?

No. I have not got that information at the moment.

(Cavan): If I put down a Question next week will the Minister be able to give me the information?

I am sure I will.

(Cavan): It was much more than that.
