Vol. 274 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork School.

54.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in erecting the new national school at Freemount, County Cork.

Mr. R. Burke

Difficulties with regard to the provision of a suitable site for the new school at Freemount have now been overcome.

The office of Public Works expect to be in a position to submit a sketch plan and an estimate of the cost of the proposed new school to my Department within the next few days.

A grant towards the cost of the school will be sanctioned when title to the site has been produced and a decision taken in regard to the amount of the local contribution to be provided.

The Minister has referred to the replacement of the old school. May I take it there is no question of amalgamation?

Mr. R. Burke

That would form the subject matter of another question.

The Minister must have some ideas about the matter.

Mr. R. Burke

I should prefer if the Deputy would ask a specific question on the matter.

Perhaps the Minister would communicate with me?

Mr. R. Burke

Yes, I will communicate with the Deputy.
