Ceisteanna—Questions . Oral Answers . - Teachers' Incremental Credit .

13.

asked the Minister for Education if he will outline the position concerning the incremental credit allowed for teachers who have teaching service in Northern Ireland, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

: In the case of teachers trained in Northern Ireland, incremental credit on the common basic salary scale for teachers is allowed in respect of all recognised full-time teaching service given by them in primary or post-primary schools in Northern Ireland.

As regards teachers trained within the State, under an agreement reached at the Conciliation Council for Teachers, incremental credit is allowed in respect of approved teaching service abroad and in Northern Ireland, up to a maximum of four years in respect of service given prior to 1 June 1979, and to a maximum of five years in respect of service given thereafter.
