Vol. 327 No. 5

Written Answers. - Limerick Water Supply Scheme.

294.

asked the Minister for the Environment the date on which Limerick City Corporation asked his Department to sanction the Limerick city west water supply; the date on which sanction was given; if sanction was not given, why in view of the serious lack of water pressure in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Preliminary proposals for the Limerick west supply augmentation scheme were approved on the 26 October 1978 and contract documents, which were submitted on the 13 August 1979, are under consideration in my Department. This proposal must be considered in conjunction with the level of wastage in the existing water supply system and the measures being taken or proposed by the corporation to deal with the wastage problem on an ongoing basis. My Department are awaiting the submission by the corporation of the results of a waste water survey and the corporation's proposals for follow-up action.
