Vol. 329 No. 5

Written Answers. - Mayo Islands Electricity Installations.

122.

asked the Minister for Energy when the ESB commenced work on the installation of power on Clare Island, County Mayo; and when current is likely to be provided there.

I understand from the Electricity Supply Board that construction of the electricity network on Clare Island is in progress. The plant commissioning is scheduled for October 1981 and it is expected that supply will be made available then, provided the generator building is completed on time and work is not interrupted by unfavourable weather or other unforseen occurrences.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to Parliamentary Question No. 32 of the 27 January 1981 in the name of Deputy Enda Kenny.

123.

asked the Minister for Energy when the ESB propose to provide power for Innisturk Island, County Mayo.

Arising from Government decisions in 1979 and 1980, I have been informed by the Electricity Supply Board that in view of the small number of houses on Innisturk Island it has been decided to provide individual generating sets instead of a central generating unit. The board expect that the provision of these sets will be completed on schedule in October this year.
