Vol. 330 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Department's Galway Transfer.

5.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry when he expects his Department to be fully moved to Galway as part of the decentralisation programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

(Cavan-Monaghan): Presumably the question relates to the proposed location in Galway of the headquarters of the Central Fisheries Board as announced in August 1979 by the then Minister for Fisheries and Forestry.

As I informed the House on 21 July last, I found on assuming office that arrangements had not been completed to provide a suitable building in Galway or to transfer the staff involved there. The matter is one for the Central Fisheries Board in the first instance and I have not yet received firm proposals from the board in the matter.
