Vol. 331 No. 7

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

660.

(Clare) asked the Minister for the Environment when Quin sewerage scheme, County Clare, will commence.

Tenders for the civil works contract of the Quin sewerage scheme were received in my Department on 15 October 1981, and are under examination. I cannot indicate at present when I will be in a position to convey a decision to the local authority regarding their recommended tender or when work on the scheme can commence.

661.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a grant allocation will be made in respect of Cornamuckle group water scheme, Ahascragh, Ballinasloe, County Galway.

The Cornamuckle group were advised on 21 July 1981, to have a design prepared for the scheme for submission to my Department. The design is still awaited. Grants cannot be allocated until the design has been examined and approved by my Department and Galway County Council.

662.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position of the proposed sewerage scheme (stage 1) which was submitted by Nenagh Urban District Council, County Tipperary, 12 months ago.

The local authority's proposals for this scheme must be considered in the context of the amount of capital available for water and sewerage schemes and the number of such schemes in progress on getting to construction at the present time and for which adequate finance must be provided, including the following schemes in Tipperary (N.R.): Newport water supply; Newport sewerage scheme; Templetuohy sewerage scheme.

I am not at present in a position to indicate when a decision on the contract documents for stage 1 of the Nenagh sewerage scheme may be conveyed to the local authority.

663.

asked the Minister for the Environment when his Department will sanction the Moyvore group water scheme, County Westmeath.

The proposed source for this group water scheme is a county council well at Moyvore village. I understand that Westmeath County Council will not be in a position to carry out a yield test on this well until next year. It is not possible at this stage to say when approval for the scheme will issue from my Department.

664.

asked the Minister for the Environment if the final estimate for a group water scheme (details supplied) in County Donegal has been sanctioned.

The final estimate for this scheme has been received in my Department and as a consequence a revised allocation of grants has been made. The final payment of grants will be made to the group's bank account as soon as possible.
