Vol. 356 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Donegal Bridge Construction.

497.

Mr. Coughlan

asked the Minister for the Environment in view of the fact that the policy and planning framework for roads as issued by his Department states that £5 million per year will be made available for works on short-span masonry arch bridges over the next ten years, the amount of this money which will be allocated to Donegal County Council; if Donegal County Council has submitted a list of such bridges which require attention; and if his Department has a priority list of such bridges.

I would refer the Deputy to paragraph 2.16 of the new road plan.

An up-to-date survey of bridges has been undertaken by the Department. It is not possible to indicate at this stage the allocation proposed to be made to a particular local authority over the next three years in respect of short-span masonry arch bridges.
