Vol. 365 No. 9

Written Answers. - Grange Road (Dublin) Development.

30.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received a proposal for finance from Dublin Corporation or Dublin County Council to complete the link road at Grange Abbey, Dublin 13, and to widen the bridge and road at Grange Road, Baldoyle, Dublin 13; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In June 1984, Dublin County Council submitted proposals to my Department for the provision of a new link road, between Grange Road, Donaghmede, and the railway bridge at Baldoyle, together with the widening of the railway bridge and the improvement of Grange Road, Baldoyle. As the proposed road would not form part of the network of national roads, the local authority were informed at the time that special Exchequer finances would not be provided for the scheme and that the cost of the works would fall to be financed from the council's own resources.

In October 1984, the local authority submitted proposals for the provision of a footpath on the approaches and across the railway bridge to link with existing footpaths and for the provision of a one-way system controlled by traffic lights. This scheme was approved by the Department and has now been implemented by the local authority, the cost of the scheme to be financed in full from State road grants.
