Vol. 372 No. 13

Written Answers. - Donegal Dental Officers.

280.

asked the Minister for Health the number of dental officers employed in the school dental services in County Donegal; the locations from which they operate; the hours of service being provided; and if he will outline details of recent cut-backs in the services.

The approved complement of dental officers employed by the North Western Health Board in the school dental service in County Donegal is 13.5 posts. The locations from which the services operate are: Letterkenny; Glenties; Falcarragh; Dungloe; Buncrana; Donegal Town; Ballyshannon; Carndonagh; Stranorlar; Killybegs; Killybegs-Lifford; Letterkenny-Creeslough; Dungloe-Aranmore; Moville; Ballyshannon-Killybegs.

There has been no cut-back in the service by the health board but it has been operating below full strength for the past few months due to resignations and sick leave. The full complement of dentists is expected to be restored in July 1987 when dental students sponsored by the health board are due to fill the vacant posts.
