asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the plans, if any, the Government has to repeat the grant of £250,000 given by the previous Government to assist national hunt racing; if the grant will be reduced and the reason; and if he will make a statement on the Government's attitude regarding the effectiveness of the grant given.

In the estimates for 1987 published by the previous Government no provision was made for a grant to assist national hunt racing this year, and no provision for such a grant has been made in the Vote for my Department which was passed by the Dail on 4 June.
