Vol. 378 No. 10

Written Answers. - Kildare Motorway.

51.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will be in a position to give his decision on the commencement of the Leixlip/Kilcock motorway, County Kildare.

111.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in confirming the compulsory purchase order in respect of the Leixlip-Maynooth by-pass, County Kildare; if he is now in a position to approve the order; the sums of money which are likely to be made available in each of the next four years to enable the by-pass to be completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am taking Questions Nos. 51 and 111 together.

I expect that I will be in a position to give a decision on the local authority's application for approval to this motorway scheme fairly soon. Without prejudice to this decision, the timing of construction and of the making of road grants for the scheme are being considered in the context of the preparation of the blueprint for road development, which I intend to publish within a few months.

Having regard to the scale of the proposed scheme, there has been no undue delay in giving a decision on the application for approval to the motorway scheme.
