Vol. 380 No. 7

Written Answers. - New Housing Capital Allocation.

100.

asked the Minister for the Environment the total capital allocation for all new housing schemes in excess of five houses on which work is starting in 1988; and the comparable figure for all new housing schemes in excess of five houses on which work started in 1986 and 1987.

The allocations made to housing authorities for 1986 and 1987 for their housing construction programme included global amounts covering: (1) commitments on schemes already completed in progress or approved, and (2) new houses starting during the particular year.

These allocations did not distinguish particular amounts for new schemes of more than five houses.

Apart from the two schemes referred to in my reply to Questions Nos. 132, 151, 171 and 172 on 3 May 1988 the capital allocations for the local authorities' housing construction programmes for 1988 did not provide capital for any new schemes of more than five houses.
