asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the South-Eastern Health Board have failed to renew a medical card for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who is suffering from Crohn's disease; and if he will have this case fully investigated and consider it as a case of severe medical hardship which under th Health Act, 1970, fully warrants the renewal of a medical card for her

The question of determining eligibility for a medical card in individual cases is the responsibility of the chief executive officer of the appropriate health board. Accordingly in this instance, the Deputy's question has been referred to the Chief Executive Officer, South-Eastern Health Board, with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency
