Vol. 389 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dublin Community College.

193.

asked the Minister for Education, in relation to Jobstown community college, Tallaght, Dublin 24, if she will give (i) details of a proposal as made to local parents to accommodate the college and a youth training facility on a single campus (ii) the other agencies which would be involved in bringing such a proposal to fruition, (iii) the progress made to date in contacting and holding discussions with such agencies and (iv) the target dates for commencement and completion of construction work; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

No such proposal has been made by my Department.

As I indicated in my reply of 26 April last, the provision of post-primary school accommodation for the pupils of the Jobstown area is presently under active consideration. I have arranged that a small group comprising of: a representative of County Dublin VEC; a member of the board of management of Brookfield community school; principal of Jobstown community college; principal of Brookfield community school; and a Department official; be established to examine the immediate and long term post-primary needs of the Jobstown area.
