203 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the facilities available for the mentally handicapped in each county by way of workshops, special schools, other institutions, speech therapists, psychologists and social workers.

This material is not readily available in my Department. As soon as I have the information, I will be in direct contact with the Deputy.

204 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Health the number of mentally handicapped persons in each county in the following age groups: (a) up to four years; (b) four to 11 years; (c) 12 to 18 years; (d) 18 to 30 years; (e) 30 to 65 years; and (f) over 65 years.

The information requested is not readily available. Health boards are being asked for the details and I will transmit them to the Deputy when they are received.

Question:

205 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Health the plans, if any, he has to provide the services of a full-time speech therapist at St. Joseph's Special School for Handicapped Children, Castlerea, County Roscommon.

The deployment of available staff in the Western Health Board is a matter for the board having regard to the competing priorities which have to be met.
