Vol. 406 No. 5

Written Answers. - Artificial Insemination.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

54 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the way in which the EC Internal Market will affect the present administrative system for artificial insemination; whether the present system will be allowed to remain; and if competition will be fostered.

As I informed the Deputy in response to a different question on the same subject on 12 February 1991, the future organisation of the artificial insemination service is under review by my Department. The implications of EC legislation including the legislative provisions governing competition for the organisation of the service require careful consideration and are being examined as part of the review to which I referred.
