Vol. 411 No. 5

Written Answers. - Reform of An Bord Pleanála.

Donal Carey

Question:

23 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for the Environment if he will confirm that promised legislation to reform the functions of An Bord Pleanála, including the provision of time limits for the deciding of planning appeals will be introduced in this session of Dáil Éireann; and if he will outline the time limits he is considering.

Preparation of a Bill to streamline and speed up the planning appeals process is at an advanced stage and I intend to introduce it as soon as possible. The Bill will propose time limits for the various stages of the appeals system and provide for a statutory objective for An Bord Pleanála to determine appeals within four months.
