Vol. 418 No. 9

Written Answers. - Company's Area Action Plan.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

77 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Labour whether his attention has been drawn to a proposal to be included in the area action plan by a company (details supplied); and if so, if he will outline his views thereon and his intentions in this regard.

The company involved forwarded to me a copy of a proposal which it had submitted to the Area Partnerships established to initiate the Area-Based Response to Long-Term Unemployment set up under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress. I have welcomed the company's initiative in this regard.

I understand that the proposal is the subject of ongoing discussions between the managing director of the company and a number of partnerships who are considering its inclusion in their area action plans. Any decision regarding the inclusion of the company's proposal in an area action plan is ultimately a matter for the local partnership.
