Vol. 419 No. 1

Written Answers. - Killarney Golf Links.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

78 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Finance if, in regard to the additional golf links in Killarney, County Kerry, he will give details of where the land is being obtained for this course; and if he will outline, at this stage, the financial consideration which is involved.

I have already given the Deputy a map of the 90 acres the Office of Public Works propose leasing to Killarney Golf Club. The balance of the lands is being made available by private owners and Bord Fáilte and the club would respon to any requests for information in this regard. The Office of Public Work are at present awaiting a layout of the course before a formal lease can be agreed.

It is not normal practice to give the financial consideration involved in such transactions but I can say that the 90 acres being provided by the Office of Public Works will be leased in return for 876 acres of uplands adjacent to Killarney National Park as well as the transfer of Derrycunnihy Church to the Office of Public Works.
