Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing Finance.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

126 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for the Environment when finance will be provided to Skibbereen Urban Council for the provision of bathrooms in four council houses in Skibbereen, County Cork having regard to the fact that the request was submitted by the urban council over a year ago.

Local authorities are responsible for the management, maintenance and improvement of their rented dwellings, including the provision of bathrooms. An allocation of £20,000 under the bathroom sub-programme has been made to Skibbereen Urban District Council this year to assist them in the provision of bathrooms in their houses which lack such facilities.
