Vol. 432 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hearing Aid Units.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

94 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education if, as a matter of urgency, she will provide six new Kamplex Units to replace the outmoded and acoustically inefficient hearing aid units which are currently in use in St. Joseph's School for Deaf Boys, in Cabra, Dublin 7; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the special equipment needs of this school and these are being responded to on an ongoing basis.

In 1992, my Department allocated almost £13,000 to St. Joseph's to facilitate the replacement of existing equipment. A similar allocation is being made available to the school in the current year as part of an ongoing programme of upgrading equipment.
