Vol. 436 No. 8

Written Answers. - Castlepollard (Westmeath) School.

Paul McGrath

Question:

89 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the increase in numbers and the urgent need for new facilities at Coláiste Cíon Torc, Castlepollard, County Westmeath, she will give the plans, if any, she has to sanction expenditure for this school.

My Department has no plans at present to incur capital expenditure in relation to Coláiste Cionn Torc, Castlepollard Vocational School.

A building project to provide 200 pupil places, which was sanctioned in 1985, was not proceeded with due to the continuing low enrolment at the school and a projected long term decline.

My Department is currently reviewing the needs of the centre in the light of new proposals from County Westmeath Vocational Education Committee.
