Vol. 438 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Lowry

Question:

247 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when special beef premium, suckler cow and beef cow premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary.

The person named was paid advances of his 1993 cattle headage grant on 27 January 1994, his suckler cow premium on 27 January 1994 and his June 1993 special beef premium on 28 January 1994. His applications are being processed further at present and if found in order the balance of the headage grant will be paid in the near future.

Payment of the balances of the special beef and suckler cow premia cannot be made to a particular applicant until applications received from him/her in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.

The processing of November 1993 applications means that in most cases payment of the final 40 per cent of premium will not start before late March.

Question:

249 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when beef premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary.

The application of the person named for grants under the January-February 1993 special beef premium scheme is being processed at present and if found in order a 60 per cent advance as provided in EU regulations will be paid shortly. He did not apply for grants under the special beef premium scheme in the June 1993 application period.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

250 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a headage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The application of the person named for grants under the 1993 cattle and equine headage scheme is being processed at present and if found in order payment will be made in the near future.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

251 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a headage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The person named applied for grants under the 1993 cattle headage and suckler cow schemes. He will be paid the headage grant in the near future. As he was not an applicant under the 1992 suckler cow scheme he has not established a quota and therefore cannot automatically be paid on his 1993 application. However, he may apply for a quota from the national reserve and if successful his application will then be processed.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

252 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the amount of money paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork under the 1992 beef premium scheme; the number of animals for which he was paid; and when the payment was issued.

My Department is unable to trace an application for the special beef premium scheme in 1992 from the person named. He applied for the special beef premium on 40 animals in January 1993 and on 27 animals in June 1993. He has been paid an advance of £1,265.52 on 25 January 1994 and an advance of £854.22 on 8 December 1993 in respect of these two applications in accordance with EU regulations.

Payment of the balance of the special beef premium cannot be made to a particular applicant until all applications received from him/her in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.
