Vol. 438 No. 5
57 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in introducing legislation to establish an Electoral Boundary Commission; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
70 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in appointing an independent Electoral Boundary Commission to revise Dáil constituencies to take account of 1991 Census; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 57 and 70 together.
In accordance with the commitment in the Programme for a Partnership Government, provision is being included in an Electoral Bill, which has now reached drafting stage, for the establishment on a statutory basis of a commission to prepare proposals for the revision of constituencies. I expect the Bill to be published in this session.
