Vol. 457 No. 7

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Noel Ahern

Question:

223 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Education whether she has re-examined a request from a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 who was refused a bus pass for her two children attending Gaelscoil, Coláiste Mhuire, Parnell Square, Dublin 1, in view of the fact that the Gaelscoil in Ballymun, Dublin 11, is nearer. [16269/95]

I would like to assure the Deputy that the application to which he refers has been re-examined.

However, as the children concerned are not attending their nearest All-Irish national school, it would not be open to my Department, under the terms of the school transport scheme, to issue bus passes as requested.

The general matters raised by the Deputy will be examined as part of the review of the school transport scheme.
