Vol. 463 No. 8

Written Answers. - Goodman Court Case.

Mary Harney

Question:

46 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the current status of the proceedings being taken by the Goodman Group against this State in respect of export credit insurance; when the case is likely to come to court; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7484/96]

The Deputy may be aware that following a hearing before the High Court, an amended statement of claim in this case, in the names of certain Goodman companies, was delivered in July 1995. Pleadings are still under way in the proceedings, and notice for trial cannot be served until these pleadings are closed. I do not feel that it would be in the State's interest at this point to go into any further detail on the State's preparation for the case.
