Vol. 465 No. 3

Written Answers. - Special Education Needs.

Ivor Callely

Question:

169 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Education the issues, if any, that have been brought to the attention of the interdepartmental co-ordinating committee on services for young people with special educational needs through its consultation process with the schools and other services in the areas of Dublin 1, 3, 5 and 9; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9703/96]

The work of the interdepartmental co-ordinating committee on services for young people with special educational needs is focused on approaches to service delivery for special needs children nationally.

The needs of schools in particular locations, such as those mentioned by the Deputy, will not generally form a direct part of the committee's deliberations. It is not envisaged that the committee will engage directly in consultations with individual schools.
