114 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education if she will award a maintenance grant under the higher education grants scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Galway, who has transferred from one engineering course to another in a college which is eligible under the higher education grants scheme. [24127/96]
Students who entered a course approved under the schemes of student support in 1995 must comply with the terms of the schemes of that year.
There was no provision in the student support schemes in 1995 or previous years to extend maintenance grants to students studying outside Ireland. The category of student referred to by the Deputy is therefore ineligible for a maintenance grant for study in Britain.
